Kavan Technologies is RoHS and WEEE compliant. We can advise, support, and guide your RoHS and WEEE implementation—from product inception to delivery including the reporting requirements for governmental agencies. What is RoHS? All applicable products that are offered in the European market must be CE compliant. As of July 1, 2006, RoHS is part of CE legislation. In the United States similar regulations are emerging. The restricted materials mandated under RoHS are:
These restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills. They are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling. Companies that manufacture, re-brand, or import electrical or electrical equipment must comply with this directive. To comply with RoHS, printed circuit boards (PCB) must use alternative lead free solder materials. Other components currently used on PCB may also have substances restricted by the RoHS directive. The Waste and Electrical Equipment Equipment (WEEE) directive requires that companies who manufacture, re-brand, or import electrical equipment to Europe, assume responsibility for the recovery and recycling of their products. The directive encourages the design of electronic products with environmentally-safe recycling and recovery in mind. RoHS was enacted to safeguard persons engaged in recycling products governed by WEEE. |
